About
Welcome to my blog. My name is Joe Jordan and I am a guy who is fascinated by politics. I studied physics at university and work as a software developer in London, and I am a member of the Liberal Democrats.
But
I don’t agree with everything the party says and does. They say leading Lib Dems is as hard as herding cats; this is probably about accurate. I subscribe to all sorts of -isms but you’ll meet those in the tag cloud, and nothing would be more boring than listing them here.
Don’t
Thinking that what I say is what the Lib Dems think is quite dangerous. I set up this cryptically named blog so that I could vent my more absurd political ideas away from the pressure of “presenting a good public interface,” and as such I aim not to speak for the party here, I speak for myself alone.
Stay
My posts will come in sets; each one is a subsection of an essay on a particular subject. If you want to see everything in the essay, click on the category links in the sidebar. If a particular category ever seems to be reaching completeness (hah) I might start putting up “papers” (PDFs of my category archives) which demonstrate my positions on some issues.
Silent
Political discourse is not a solo sport; in order to improve my arguments I would humbly request that you comment and try and contradict me! I will take an editorial decision over each comment and filter some of them out. This isn’t censorship, it is my site and I’m paying to host the thing, but equally I hope this sanction will rarely be required. Talk about the subject of the post and include link referenced for any particularly crazy claims, and you’ll be fine. I may also want to change my arguments (especially if you convince me I’m wrong), but don’t worry I won’t edit posts and leave your comments orphaned, I’ll post again and link to the update from the original, and I’ll try and make sure permalinks always point to the right place.
